Our Story
Sports for the physically disabled in Singapore has been somewhat quiet amongst our society, with attention usually turned to our mainstream atheletes. Nonetheless, the Lawn Bowls Association for the Disabled (Singapore) is wasting no time in rallying the physically challenged to adopt a sporting lifestyle. Beginning this mission by using the game of lawn bowls as a therapeutic medium for the disabled to stimulate mind and body, the Association has worked hard to locate an environment fit for people of all disabilities to join. However, since its inception in April 2004, the Association has had a frustrating time finding a location. The Association was however fortunate to have access to an ideal venue for a disabled friendly bowling green comprising of two modest rinks, thanks to the great vision and generosity of the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD).
In order to achieve our mission, we appeal to the government, corporations, charitable trusts and individuals to come forward and help us generously to introduce the game of Lawn Bowls to the disabled and the elderly. The Lawn Bowls is one of the few sports which people with any disability and from any age group can participate and enjoy the activity and social atmosphere of the sport. Let Lawn Bowls be the "Sports for Life".
